B) Advertising

There is a Brooklyn Nine-Nine Youtube channel that posts clips/extras from the show to advertise and promote it to potential viewers.

There is also a Twitter and Instagram account that posts/retweets promotional clips/images of the show.

As the target audience is 19-21-year-olds, this form of advertisement is very relevant to target that age group as many young people use social media daily and find new media (films, tv shows, music etc.) to watch through it.

Trailer/Promo videos:

Both videos clearly portray to the audience what the show is about; a comedy about a police precinct and the officers that work within it. The tone is light and fast-paced, representative of the comedy genre the show holds.

Billboards:

Both billboards contain an image of a very vibrant yellow brick wall which helps the posters to stand out so that bypassers notice them. The title is in black on both billboards, however, the placement of it is different due to black being used as the background for one and white for the other. You can't have a black title on a black background so the title is placed over the yellow to create a contrast that helps it to attract attention. The text 'Vote Emmys FYC' instigates to the viewer that the billboard is advertising a TV show.

Furthermore, on both billboards, the characters are making rather dramatic or silly poses coupled with the police iconography - Badges and guns (from their finger poses) - tells the viewer that the show is a police comedy.

Truck:

The colour yellow is used throughout the advertising for the show as it is quite an eye-catching colour but it also holds connotations of happiness and fun which is a theme that the show possesses as it is a comedy. Again, the characters are posed in a fun/silly way and are clearly showing that they are police through the use of their badges/uniform and the finger gun pose. All of which clearly tell the viewer what the show is about and so attract the target audience.
